The importance of art and place.

Working on Rocks of the Burren, 2024 (Burren College of Art, Ireland)

“What is life, if full of care, we have no time to stand and stare.”

“Leisure” by William Henry Davies

The question I bring to all my work is: how can we create art and experiences where people are more than participants? The answer I keep coming back to is place.

The world is alive around us in so many ways. We can capture this movement of our surroundings, humanity, struggles and beauty through art and place. Creative, intentional places allow us to connect with ourselves, with each other, and with what it means to be human and thrive.

They allow us to “stand and stare.”

My passion is to find the beauty in everything around us and engage others in that beauty through art and place. This passion has been lifelong, and even before college, I won multiple national awards in photography, and later I was competitively selected for a month-long studio art program on the rural and rugged western coast of Ireland.

In Ireland as a college student, my art became grounded in allowing the environment to shape my inspiration. When I travel, I see cafés, forests, cities, and landscapes as sketches or paintings to be created and shared to allow others to reflect.

This inspired me to join the team at Castle Hill Center for the Arts on Cape Cod as an intern studio manager for art programs and exhibitions (while working on some of my own paintings, prints, wire sculptures, watercolors, and ceramics!). It was at Castle Hill where I found my vision: to play a leadership role on teams in creative spaces. I love art and artists, I love production, and I love community. When all of these come together, we are stronger and thrive.

My journey has continued, and I currently work with great teams at the Museum of Contemporary Art Arlington as a program and event coordinator and at the Washington Printmakers Gallery in Georgetown.
